Notes: Just a silly fic, because the idea of these two playing Pokemon was just too adorable. Plus apparently, it’s not too much of a stretch of the imagination for the Kratt brothers to play video games.

No matter how prepared he had been for it, Chris winced a little when the attack came, nothing to protect him from taking the hit, followed by the familiar chime that alerted him that he was in the red. He glanced over at Fluttershy who lay reclined back on the couch, a small smile on her face.

Of course she was calm; she was still in near-perfect health while he barely hung on in critical condition.

He knew the end was quickly approaching. There wasn’t much he could do to prevent it any longer. But at least he would go down fighting, as he dealt in one last blow.

It wasn’t enough though; of course it wouldn’t be.

Soon his opponent made her move. With one last strike, it was all over, and he had to watch as his Garchomp – his last Pokémon – faint while Fluttershy’s Sylveon was still standing, declaring her the winner of the battle.

"H’ohoh man," he groaned, though there was a laugh trailing the end of it. "Man, you’re too good."

Fluttershy blushed slightly, letting her 3DS rest on her stomach. “W-Well I’m…not really. You should see Rainbow Dash and Twilight when they’re battling. They’re both really good, and they get really into it.”

As far as playing Pokémon – or really, any video game – was concerned, Chris wasn’t sure which name surprised him more to hear. “I’m probably just really bad at this then. Jimmy’s really good too, and he’s always beating me and Martin.”

Fluttershy stifled back a giggle, though at least she managed to look sympathetic. “To be fair, we probably just have more time to play than you two do. You guys are usually out adventuring right? It’s not exactly video game friendly out there.”

Chris chuckled. “I guess that’s a good point.” With a grin, he picked up his 3DS again from the couch armrest, gently nudging Fluttershy’s legs that rested across his lap. “All right, one more time.”

She gave him a curious look. “Another battle? Are you sure?”

"Yeah, c’mon, it’ll be fun." He met her skeptical look with a pleading smile. "Last one, I promise. Let’s do one double battle this time, winner take all. Then we can do something else…okay?"

She rolled her eyes, but he could tell it was more amused than anything. “Fine,” she replied, taking up her DS again.

With another grin, Chris looked through his team, considering who to use for this last battle. Eventually he decided on his Lucario and Charizard, the best Pokémon he had had besides his starter, Greninja.

When the battle began, he couldn’t help blinking at Fluttershy’s choices; the Gardevoir was still a bit of a problem, considering its dual Psychic/Fairy nature, but having seen Fluttershy battle with it before he at least knew what to expect, so it shouldn’t be too much trouble. The Chesnaught she picked wouldn’t have been surprising either, except her starter Chesnaught had been a girl, and the one she was currently using was a boy.

"You have another Chesnaught?" he wondered.

She shrugged, giving him a little smile. “I like to breed Pokémon.”

He blinked at her a moment, then shrugged. It still shouldn’t be too bad. He had the type advantage with his Charizard, even with the level gap between the two Pokémon. He really only had to worry about his Lucario.

Fluttershy’s Gardevoir moved first, and his brow rose curiously when it used Trick Room; that would let Pokémon with slower speed stats attack first. So she was probably trying to get her Chesnaught to attack first. That wasn’t too much of a problem.

At least until her Chesnaught actually moved, and his eyes widened, glancing at her. Fluttershy simply smiled.

Chesnaught used Belly Drum!
