Notes: Not much to say about this one, except that it’s post-established, and it’s also based on another RP thread that I won’t be linking to for reasons…

The storm had been somewhat expected, just judging by the dark clouds looming in the sky all afternoon. They hadn’t realized how heavy it would be, though, but neither was too bothered by the rain pounding on the roof. It wasn’t until the lights started to flicker that they both paused.

Chris glanced up from helping clear the table after dinner, watching the lights blink unsteadily. “Uh oh…” he murmured.

"Y…Y-You don’t think the power will go out…do you?" Fluttershy wondered, a nervous tremor in her voice.

"Dunno." He placed the plates in the sink, giving them a quick rinse. "Couldn’t hurt to be ready though, just in case it does." Wiping his hands, he then turned to back to her. "The generator’s in the basement, right?"

She nodded, though still rubbed her arm a little anxiously. The back-up generator was only used to power the motorized devices for animal-related care. It certainly wasn’t powerful enough to run for the entire house.

"All right. I’ll head down and get it started up." Sensing her worry, Chris smiled as reassuringly as he could before heading down to the basement.

The generator was easy enough to find, and once he was sure it was running all right he headed back up the stairs. And not a moment too soon either, for as soon as he reached the top of the stairs again, there was a crash of thunder that rumbled throughout the house, and the lights flicked once more before going out completely.

Closing the basement door behind him, Chris pulled out his Creature Pod from his pocket and turned on the flashlight feature, using it to guide him through the darkened house.

"Fluttershy?" he called, stepping into the living room to look for his girlfriend.

There was a flash from the lightning outside, quickly followed by another booming crack of thunder. At the very tail end of it he could just make out a faint whimper from the couch.

He walked over, finding Fluttershy huddled there with the throw blanket from the couch pulled over her. Wordlessly he sat beside her, one arm going around her shoulders and gently holding her to him. He could feel her trembling against his side, though thankfully she seemed to be calming down after a moment.

Then she slowly lifted the blanket from over her head, looking up at him. With a gentle squeeze of her shoulders, he gave her another reassuring smile. When she managed to smile back, he placed a kiss on her forehead.

He leaned back to lie on the couch, still holding her to him and bringing her down with him. She shifted a little, carefully arranging the blanket so that it covered both of them before carefully settling on top of him, snuggling into him.

And they remained that way, lying on the couch with Chris keeping an arm around her and idly stroking her hair, while the storm raged through the night, perfectly content even in the dark house, lit only by the Creature Pod and the occasional flare of lightning from outside. And when thunder once again exploded and Fluttershy didn’t seem to mind, Chris couldn’t help but smile.
