Ordinary Day

I sighed, the wind tossing my crimson hair around. It was a nice day, with nothing to do………at all.

It was driving me up the wall.

Sure, I enjoyed a vacation from hunting sorcerers as much as my teammates did. But there were just some days that were so boring that I wanted anything to do.

Since there was nothing to do now, however, I just stood there, watching as the orb in the sky began to touch the ground, sinking from the sky and exploding it in a swarm of pink, orange, purple, and red.

Just a day, just an ordinary day
Just trying to get by

I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye, and I turned to my left to see Marron, walking by some distance away from me, glancing up at the sunset for a minute, before going back to looking at the ground before him.

“Hey Marron!” I called out to him.

He stopped, searching for the source of who called out to him. Upon seeing me, he smiled and made his way over.

Just a boy, just an ordinary boy
But he was looking to the sky

“Hello, Tira,” he said.

“Hey,” I replied. “Where are you heading?”

“Just up that pass.” He pointed towards a path, deep inside the forest. “I was just on my way to a secluded spot, not far from here.”

“What are you going there for?”

His golden eyes glimmered as a smile formed on his lips. “There is supposed to be a meteor shower tonight, and the spot I’m going to is an excellent spot to view it from.”

“Oh, really?”

“Yes.” After a moment of thought, he added, “Why don’t you come with me?”

“Are you sure? I mean, I wouldn’t want to intrude on your secret spot.”

He chuckled softly. “It’s alright, Tira. I don’t mind. As long as you don’t tell the others about it.”

And as he asked if I would come along
I started to realize
That every day he finds just what he's looking for
And like a shooting star he shines

“Well……”

“The meteor shower is said to be quite beautiful. I’ve seen some before. However, it does get tiresome watching them by myself.”

He offered out his hand to me, and I took it, letting him lead the way.

And he said
Take my hand
Live while you can
Don’t you see your dreams
Are right in the palm of your hand

I followed close behind him, seeing as how I was unfamiliar with the place that Marron was leading me through. I froze, however, when we came upon a wooden bridge.

As he stepped on the bridge, he stopped when he realized I wasn’t following. “What’s wrong?” he asked me.

“Do we have to cross that?”

“It’s the quickest way to get there.”

“But is it safe?”

“Why wouldn’t you think it was?”

“Because it looks so……rickety.”

He laughed gently, walking back towards me.

And as he spoke, he spoke ordinary words
Although they did not feel now

“It’s all right, Tira,” he said, getting behind me. “There’s nothing to worry about. This bridge is very safe.”

“Are you sure?”

“Of course. I’ve crossed this bridge many times before. I promise you, there’s nothing to worry about.”

“But that was when you were crossing this bridge by yourself. Now that there are two of us, how do we know it won’t break underneath us?”

He just flashed me a soft smile. “Don’t worry. I won’t let anything happen to you.”

For I felt what I have not felt before
And you’d swear those words could heal

I looked up into his golden eyes. “What?” I asked.

“I won’t let anything happen to you. I’ll be right beside you just in case. You trust me, don’t you?”

I nodded, then looked at the long bridge. “We can go just as slow as you like,” he whispered in my ear.

“Promise?” I asked.

“Yes. Have I ever lied to you?”

No. Of course he hasn’t. Even when we were children, he never led me wrong. I knew he would make sure I was safe.

And as I looked up into those eyes
His vision borrows mine
And I know he's no stranger for I feel
I've held him for all of time

He held out his hand again, and I took it once again, holding onto the side ropes of the bridge with my free hand. I closed my eyes in an attempt not to look down.

I only opened my eyes when we stopped. As I did, I saw Marron smiling at me. “See?” he said. “We made it alive.”

I let out the breath I was holding. Sensing that, Marron chuckled again. His laughter sounded so warm, I couldn’t help smiling.

“Shall we continue?” he asked. I nodded, letting him lead the way once again.

And he said
Take my hand
Live while you can
Don’t you see your dreams
Are right in the palm of your hand
In the palm of your hand

Finally, we stopped by a cave entrance, heavily camouflaged by the shadows and leaves of trees and bushes.

“Is this your secret spot, Marron?” I asked.

He nodded. “This is where I come to relax.”

“I’m kinda surprised I made it here.”

“Yes, and just in time for the meteor shower as well.” He pointed up towards the sky, as tiny drops of light fell from the sky. One, two, three at first, then they poured down in numerous amounts, brightening the black sky with their light.

“Wow,” I said, awestruck. “You were right, Marron. This is beautiful.”

He turned to look at me. “Yes, but some things are more beautiful than others.”

I turned to him, cocking my head in slight confusion at his statement. I never had a chance to ask him what he meant by that. My eyes widened as his lips gently pressed against mine.

Please come with me
See what I see
Touch the stars for time will not flee
Time will not flee
Can you see?

~*~*~*~

My eyes slowly fluttered open. Surprised, I sat up in bed, surveying the surroundings of my bedroom.

Just a dream, just an ordinary dream
As I wake in bed

‘A dream?’ I wondered. ‘That was……different than normal………But still………Marron………Does that mean something?’

“Tira?” I heard a familiar voice call.

And the boy, that ordinary boy
Was it all in my head?
Did he asked if I would come along
It all seemed so real

I turned to see Marron standing at the doorway.

“Marron!” I said, slightly surprised.

He made his way over to my bed. “Did you enjoy your sleep?” he asked politely.

Blushing I nodded.

“That’s good. Unfortunately, we have another assignment. The others have left already, seeing as how we needed to leave right away. We didn’t want to wake you, though, so I offered to stay and wait until you awoke to take you to and fill you in on our mission.”

“Thank you.”

He smiled, holding out his hand to me. “We should be going now.”

I took his hand, allowing him to help me out of bed.

But as I looked to the door I saw that boy
Standing there with a deal

As we were walking down the corridors of the Stella Church, I stole a quick glance at Marron. He had that look on his face again. The look that he didn’t care about anything around him. The nonchalant manner floating around him, gracefully poised as his hair swayed back in forth in rhythm with his footsteps.

I blushed as my mind ran through all this. But then I remembered the dream I had not too long ago. Where he had kissed me.

“Marron?” I asked timidly.

He turned to me. “Yes Tira?”

“What is your opinion of dreams?”

He arched an eyebrow in question.

“I mean, do you think that when we dream, it could mean something? Like, it’s sending us a message?”

He smiled softly. “That depends on what you believe the dream is telling you. If it’s telling you of something that is possible to happen.”

And he said
Take my hand
Live while you can
Don’t you see your dreams
Are right in the palm of your hand
In the palm of your hand

I swallowed nervously. “And what if the dream you had was possible?”

“Then I believe that you can make that dream come true, if you wanted to. The only way to make any dream come true is if we take charge, and make it more of a reality.”

In the palm of your hand

~*~*~*~

I watched Carrot running as fast as he could, trying to get away from my sister, who was chasing him with a mallet. I sighed. We were supposed to be working. Instead, Chocolate and Carrot were goofing off, as usual.

Just a day, just an ordinary day
Just trying to get by

Movements to my left called over my attention, and I saw as Gateau was flexing his muscles again. I shook my head in slight disappointment. Well, at least they weren’t bored.

I finally found the person I was looking for, the person Gateau was showing off to. Marron didn’t seem to be interested in the blond man’s flirting. He stayed where he was, leaning against the wall of a building, Gateau still showing off to him. He didn’t seem to notice, though. He was too busy looking up, watching the clouds pass lazily by.

Just a boy, just an ordinary boy
But he was looking to the sky
